Too often, when you’re looking at blogs you’re looking at how spotless and how perfect everything looks.
And, if you’re like me, you’re doing some serious coveting of that clean, perfect space. Too often, I look at a blog photo and I wonder if anyone lives there.
This past week, I read a devotional in which the writer discussed stealing time from your employers while at work. While he said he wasn’t guilty of stealing time at work, he certainly was guilty of stealing time at home. He talked about how he often puts other things before his wife and kids. That one hit hard, you guys.
As much as I like a clean house, some things are way more important. So, Saturday I spent a wonderful day with my girls and my husband. We got home late, so I went to bed with a house that looked like this:
As much as I like having a clean house. I have to be honest and admit what you see on the blog isn’t always real life. Sometimes the dishes are in the sink, the bags are piled beside the door, and the hampers are overflowing. And those blog photo shoots? Sometimes there are piles of clothes just outside the camera lens.
The next morning, we woke up, went to church, and then we came home and cleaned up the messes. You just have to decide what’s really important. A clean, perfect house or making memories with your kids? I know what will win every time for most of us.
My sweet children will only be small once, but the messes will always be there.
