To me, one of the most difficult areas to decorate is the wall behind the couch. It was a non-issue in our old home, as our couch didn’t sit against a wall.
For the past two years, we have had this picture hanging behind our couch. You can see it in our living room photo from the old house, too.
It matches our living room perfectly, but it was just too small for the wall (oooh, that rhymed! 🙂 ) I tried for awhile to find a similar picture of the same size to hang next to it, but never could find what I wanted.
The hubs and I are working on making small updates to our house this year, and finishing previously unfinished rooms. One thing we’ve really wanted to do is solve the “couch wall problem.” After spending a few early morning feedings browsing Pinterest, I decided to do a gallery wall using different frame orientations and different objects. I came up with this:
I purchased six of these frames at $4 a pop. I already had one frame, the B, and the typograhical sign. I also had all but 3 of the pictures. The total cost was about $33.
I tend to favor symmetry, so this was a step outside the box for me.I love how the gallery wall fills the space. I also love that it isn’t completely “matchy,” and that everything coordinates, even if it doesn’t match exactly.
Stay tuned as we continue updating this room.
