Easter Sunday: he has risen

Today we celebrate the death and resurrection of our living Savior. I am not going to expand on this verse; I am simply going to thank God for sending us His Son so that we might be redeemed.

May God richly bless you.

Weekend Reading

This week has been crazy busy. I was on spring break, but managed to clean out closets, paint the living room, clean out the out building, and wash the porch furniture. I also got to volunteer at my daughter’s school for her Easter egg hunt.

Isn’t she cute? She’s growing up way too fast.

This little stinker fought a nasty virus this week but is feeling much better.

Here she is modeling her sister’s rain boots.

We are off to an Easter egg hunt at church today, and then back home to get ready for Easter Sunday. I hope the Lord blesses you and your family.

Here is what I’m reading this weekend:

Country Living: Old fashioned plants you need in your garden right now

Country Living: Small Mountain Towns to Visit this Summer (#1 is Jackson County, NC, which is home to my alma mater)

Southern Living: 21 DIY Easter egg ideas

BHG: No-dye Easter egg ideas
Have a wonderful holiday weekend.

A wonderful Easter weekend

 easter collage

Most of my family lives three hours away in another state. We used to go visit fairly often, but in recent years, we just don’t get up there as often as we once did.

My family and I had intended to go visit the weekend before Easter, but when I became sick with the flu, we had to postpone our trip. Not wanting to wait any longer, we decided to go visit Easter weekend.

One of the neatest things we did was go to church with my grandparents. This is the same church my mother and her siblings grew up in, and the church where my parents got married, so that made it more special. We spent time with my precious grandparents, my great aunt and uncle and my cousin, my aunt and uncle, and my uncle, aunt, and my first cousins. We had a great time, even though it was a short visit. Here are some pictures from Easter weekend:

My little girls were so beautiful in their monogrammed jumpers.

The sun’s in our eyes. And it’s obvious I’ve been sick and my color isn’t completely back to normal. But three people I love a whole lot are in it and that’s why I love this picture.

My precious grandparents. I love them so much.

Cousin time! One is missing- he was in his room. And look how grown up my girl is!

Spring home tour

I didn’t do much this year for spring decorating. In fact, I’ve had a lot of transitional decor out since Christmas so I decided to keep using it. I did add a few things, and some of it you’ll likely recognize from last year.

DSC_1310

First off, I made these moss balls and put them in a basket on our office book shelves. I love the simple way they add some green to the room.

Also in the office: this green topiary with some burlap covered books.

These are some DIY apothecary jars on our front entry table. I used some leftover Spanish moss from the moss balls to surround the candle (it won’t be lit), some dried grapevine to make a nest for this cute little bird, and some more grape vine to put under the eggs.

These cute little bunnies and this cute little nest live in my kitchen.

Remember these tea towels from Target? They’re in my kitchen too.

My “fake mantle” in the dining room. It has a cake plate with a DIY nest and some eggs, a glass bird on a nest under a cloche, a bird print, a hobnail candle holder, and a boxwood in a galvanized pail.

This is my dining room. I have a burlap runner, some topiaries on the china cabinet and in the window, and some more boxwood in galvanized pails. Apologies for the poor picture quality 🙁

This concludes my very toned down Spring decorating. Stay tuned for more.

Photography: Emorie’s Easter pictures

I have a very sweet, beautiful little child who will be turning four this summer. She’s very photogenic, and we have professional pictures done of her about twice a year (not counting her nursery school pictures). Aside from her Christmas pictures, I usually take pictures of her for other holidays, such as Easter. This year, the day that I shot her Easter pictures, it was terribly windy, but I still managed to get some good shots. I have been wanting to share them, but just haven’t had the time to finish editing them. I finally got them done!

These are by no means all the pictures I took, but my favorites. I hope you enjoy them.

I hope you enjoyed her sweet Easter pictures. More pictures are coming soon!!
