Farmhouse Friday: decorating with salvaged doors

I don’t know about you, but I love old house doors. My Pinterest boards are filled with repurposed door projects. I’m actually on the search for an old door right now so I can do this:

         Headboard from old door
And an old screen door for our pantry.

           Down to Earth Style Blog
I thought today I could show you some of my favorite old door ideas from around the web.

How awesome is this hall tree made from a salvaged door?

And what about this photo display?

Interior Barn Doors
I need this bookcase in my life.

Lushome
I love this garden arbor made from salvaged doors.

And as a shower door in this bathroom? I want it!

I hope you have enjoyed looking at these ideas as much as I have! Now, I’m gonna go cruise Craigslist and find some doors!

Have a good weekend.

Farmhouse Friday: Front porches

In today’s farmhouse Friday, I’d like to talk about a farmhouse tradition: the front porch. Front porches are for rocking chairs and porch swings, good conversation and cold glasses of iced tea. Though our current house doesn’t have a real front porch, our back porch serves the purpose. Below is a round up of my favorite farmhouse front porches from Pinterest. Let’s admire them together!

Finding Home Farms

How perfect is this porch? I love everything about it, but I especially love that furniture. The house color scheme is pretty perfect, too.

The Little Hermitage
I didn’t just pin this one for the porch; I loved the yard as well. It’s about as perfect as you can get! That sidewalk. The porch furniture. The porch itself!

House Beautiful
I love those rocking chairs and big ferns! So lovely!

Farmhouse Made
Oh, man! The double lanterns, the green door, that antique screen door, the ladder…can someone put this exact porch on MY house?

I hope you’ve enjoyed this edition of Farmhouse Friday. Have a great weekend!

Farmhouse Fridays: favorite farmhouse bedrooms

This week, instead of sharing five things I love or a roundup of farmhouse style merchandise, I’m going to kind of combine them. Today I’m sharing my favorite farmhouse style bedrooms, as seen in magazines and on Pinterest.

I love this shiplap headboard and the ticking stripe duvet.

              Cotton Stem Interiors

This next room is so pretty. I love an iron bed, but I also really love the tray ceiling and light fixture.

                 Our Vintage Nest

There isn’t anything in this bedroom I don’t love, but there’s just something about that beam and those lace curtains.

                  Love Grows Wild
The old door and the ceiling beams got me. Love this pretty room!

          Dreamy White Lifestyle
I like the colors in this room, but those sconces just make the room.

Make it Monday: DIY personalized wall art and how you can make it!!

I saw something similar to this in a catalog earlier this week and immediately thought about how easy it’d be to make.

All you need is word processor and to download some fonts that you like.

My finished product looks like this, though I’m thinking of ordering it on a canvas.

I used Bookman Old Style for the big B and the “Boone,” but used Brush Script Demo for the “established,” and Bradley Hand for the year. Dafont.com  and Freefonts.com are a great place to get free fonts if none of these appeal to you.

This printable is super easy and lots of fun to make.

Now, where to hang it?

A craft room inspiration wall

Do you remember last week when I moved our command center from our office to our pantry?

The old command center

The new one

The absence of the command center left behind a big, empty wall. I decided to repurpose the big bulletin board and make this wall a place for inspiration.

I added the cover of the current issue of Country Living to my inspiration board, as well as two of my favorite Bible verses. I also added a cross and a sign I found at Hobby Lobby, and three pictures of my blessings. After all, they are my biggest inspirations.

What inspires you?
