Make Something Monday: Inspired And Empowered

http://www.alamanauae.com/research-papers-stock-market/ My oldest daughter is a gymnast, and we are also in the process of updating both girls’ rooms. This quote is hanging in her gymnastics studio, and it’s a quote we have come to use a lot at our house.
I am a fan of anything that is positive, empowering, or promoting trying vs. Quitting. I plan on printing this for display in both my classroom and my daughter’s room.

Make Something Monday: a Fixer Upper style printable

blank Lately I’ve really been into these farmhouse style “handlettered” signs. Now that these signs have been made more popular by Fixer Upper, they’re popping up everywhere.

go here On a recent trip to Tennessee, I spotted these in an antique store.

I decided to make something similar but truthfully, I’m pretty horrible at hand lettering. But I am good at downloading fonts and creating printable art on my computer. Stick to what you’re good at, you know?

We have certain regular tasks we do to keep our home looking nice inside and out.

Because there are so many of these tasks, we need a checklist so we remember them all. …and we need to remember whether we’ve already done them.

I simply print two copies- one for the fridge and a 5×7 copy that I attach to my planner.

I have attached a free printable checklist for you so you can see how we keep up with our regular household chores. To print, simply right click, and save to your device.

Sunday Scripture: Lamentations 3:22

Lamentations 3:22: “It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is thy faithfulness.”

This verse is special to us for a number of reasons.  We have dealt with a few trials, and as bad as we’ve hurt at times, we have always felt the Lord beside us.

After the loss of our second pregnancy, I was depressed and upset. I did a lot of crying and hurting but I also did lots of praying.

I recall driving to work one morning and asking the Lord if I’d ever have another child. I can’t explain it but I felt this peace wash over me.

The Lord is faithful, and great is his faithfulness. I thought you might like these two Printables to help remind us that God’s faithfulness is GREAT!!

Free printable: Merry and Bright banner

I love a good Christmas banner.  I also love DIY and making things.

I got the idea for this super cute DIY Christmas banner when I shared my family photo ideas last week.

I decided to make it myself and then share the printable with you, for free.

I created the banner using MS Word.  Then I printed it on cardstock and cut it out.

Then, I punched holes in each circle and strung them onto a piece of twine.

Here are some different ways to use this banner:

Here it is on our playroom shelf.Excuse the mess. We are in the midst of decluttering this room.

Or as a picture prop:

Err..it’s probably better to use a banner this long with more than one person.

I made two styles of the banner, and both are available for free download below.

To download, just click the links below and save to your computer.

Kids’ Incentive Chart

Since our five year old has started school, we have been noticing some changes in her behavior and not all of them are good changes.

We used to have a little jar we put craft pom poms in,  but now that she’s older, she’s not really interested in the jar.

We needed something a little more visual and since our girl loves stickers, we thought a sticker chart would be good for her.  I found a few printable behavior charts on the Internet.

weekly behavior chart

I like this one because you can put different behavior categories and you can customize it.

Deck the Walls: How to Find Low Cost Art that Looks Great

I don’t like to hang a lot of things on my walls,  but I do love a nice gallery wall.  I also love finding art that matches the room’s Décor,  but also stands out. Since art can be costly and I don’t have a lot of money, here are a few of my favorite ways to find cheap art that looks great.

1. Make it yourself

I’m not artistic in the least.  I cannot draw or paint.  What I can do is make my own subway art on Ms Word. Type it out, change the colors and fonts, print it, and frame.

2. ETSY and Pinterest are your friends

This gallery wall is in my daughter’s nursery.  We purchased two of the prints from ETSY, while the other two were found on Pinterest.  All were printed by us, here at home. Sources listed here

3. Botanical prints: widely available on the Internet

I love, love, love botanical prints.  If it weren’t for trying to have a little variety in the house, I’d have them in every room.  They are widely available on the Internet, and ate usually free.  I get most of mine from The Graphics Fairy. There are a lot of them on Pinterest as well.

4. Catch the sales
We also shop sales at Hobby Lobby and Kirklands. I’ve been known to window shop, find things I like, and wait until they come on sale.  It takes some patience but it’s kind of fun.

5. Use photographs to create an interesting gallery

Sites like Shutterfly have frequent specials and offer cheap photo printing. Walmart photo and Walgreens offer cost effective photo printing as well. I personally love pictures and we have them all over our house.

What are your favorite places to find cheap art?

Spring DIY Round-up!

Spring is quite possibly my favorite season, aside from fall. I love how everything is fresh and green, the flowers are blooming, the birds are singing, and baby animals are being born. I also really love crafting, and there are some wonderful spring crafts that you can make. The following is a round up of previously published spring crafts that I have done. Hope you enjoy them!

    1. Bird Foot Art

footbird

If you have little children, you should definitely make some of these cute little birds by dipping their feet in some washable finger paint. I love displaying these birds each year 🙂

2. DIY Faux-nests

bird nest 2

These are so fun and so easy to make! My husband actually thought it was a real nest that I’d carried in from outside, until I showed him how I made it.

3. Spanish moss balls

So much cheaper to make than to buy! Really easy, too!

4.   DIY Recycled Flower Wreath

This was so much fun to make- I’m actually in the process of making another.

5. Free spring printable

Quite possibly one of my favorite printables EVER!

Stay tuned for more spring crafts soon! Happy Friday!
