Five favorites Fridays

Every so often I like to share some of my favorite things with you. It could be beauty products, clothing, cleaning or household items, and even children’s products.

This week there is no theme, nor rhyme or reason to my list. They are simply five things that I love.

1. Clarks wedges

I own a brown pair and a black pair and I LOVE them! They’re so comfy I teach in them. This particular model isn’t sold anymore, so here’s something similar.

Lily’s No Sugar Added chocolate bars. I’m slowly transitioning to 100% on plan with Trim Healthy Mama. THM is sugar free and these chocolate bars offer a way for me to still eat chocolate and stay on plan.

I love Essie nail polish, and I especially love this color. It’s called “in the cab-Ana” and I’m wearing it in the picture above of my sandals and feet 😜

This is so not a picture of me. I love Spanx Undie-tectables. Those things are awesome and perfect for my summer dresses.

Lastly, I’m loving Burts Bees moisturizing lip shimmer. It’s cheap, it looks good and it works really well.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this Five Favorites Friday list. Have a great weekend!!

A quick organizing project: those baby toys

We have a toy storage problem at our house. More specifically, we have a baby toy storage problem. We had several toys stored in the crib, which meant we had to remove the toys before putting the baby in her crib.

image

We also had one way too small basket in the floor beside the crib to hold the toys.
image

We had to take the toys and sit them in her chair each time she went to nap or sleep. It was a major pain.

I spotted this burlap hamper at Hobby Lobby in the Spring Shop, so it was 40% off! Score!

Now those toys have a home and there is room for Aubrey in her crib. And we don’t have to move any toys.

What toy organization strategies have you discovered?

Mini Room Reveal: laundry room

We aren’t quite finished yet with our laundry room but we are so close.

image

When we started this project, all we had to work with was a large, too-deep closet with one rod and one too-high shelf.

image

image

Since I couldn’t reach the shelf, everything got piled onto the washer and dryer which made a big mess.

My dad built shelves for me, which I still have to paint. I also need to paint the walls of the laundry room. It’s love some different flooring but it’s just not in the budget right now.

I did score some really cool metal baskets from Dollar General to store my cleaning supplies.

Next I’m going to buy some tall baskets and a galvanized pail. I can’t wait to show you the finished product. Stay tuned!

Thrifting Thursdays!

My uncle. who is easily one of my favorite people, came over last Monday. We weren’t doing anything, and all his plans had fallen through, so he and the three of us (meaning me and the girls) spent the day together. We had a blast- he and my oldest played outside and flew a kite together, and then he got in some cuddle time with my baby girl. At some point, we decided to check out the local antique mall. I found plenty of things I wanted to buy, but rather than get in trouble, I bought only these two things.

The first of these treasures is a cute handmade apron. I got it for only $5!

This wooden tray is awesome! It was only $8 and I can just imagine all the possibilities.

Imagine it at Christmas stuffed with greenery and ornaments:

Or with greenery and nests for spring:

Or even as part of a simple vignette:

There are so many neat ways to decorate using dough bowls and I can’t wait to show you what  I do with this one. Happy Thursday!

My recent trip to Ikea

Two weekends ago, my family went to Ikea and Concord Mills for a shopping trip. Because Ikea is about a three hour drive for us, we don’t go often. We try to keep a list of things we might want to buy when we do go again. There were many things I wanted, but I’m watching our spending, so I only made a few purchases.

Here are some things I bought:

Remember my decorating conundrum in the guest bath? I couldn’t figure out what I wanted to put on this shelf with the mason jars. This pretty little tea light holder is working out nicely.

I also picked up some cute galvanized buckets and faux boxwood to create a no-fuss centerpiece for our new table.
I also got these really cute pitchers to put my kitchen utensils in. They look so cute in our kitchen!
I am really enjoying all of these neat things we got- I am in the process of picking out some other things I want to buy in the future.  Thanks for reading!
