Wordfull Wednesday

Each Wednesday I’ve been trying to post a quote that speaks to me or makes me feel inspired.  This week I’m sharing the following quote: (graphic created by Canva).

Spring and fall are my favorite times of year, for various reasons. Spring is a time of regrowth and renewal, so it isn’t any surprise that I myself feel renewed and recharged.

I generally feel more upbeat and positive during the spring as well, which is why this quote spoke to me. Why wait until Spring to be positive and uplifted?

That’s something that should last all year. Why wait until spring to be renewed and recharged? To be positive and uplifted? Let’s live like it’s spring, no matter the weather.

Wrapping paper storage ideas

This year, I did something I usually don’t do. I wrapped my gifts using wrapping paper that had a big pattern and it had red in it.

I also used some red ribbon and some vintage inspired tags I created.

But even with this boldly patterned paper, I used a touch of traditional.

You will find a few “brown paper packages tied up with strings.”

I also wanted to talk about my wrapping paper storage.

This underbed box contains ribbon, tape, scissors, small bags, and boxes. I have wrapping paper for Christmas, baby showers, birthdays and weddings.

I just slide the box out from under the bed when I need it.

How are you storing your wrapping paper?

Tiered Tray Vignettes

Tiered trays are useful for serving, but did you know that they can be great for creating vignettes as well?

I used a simple silver tray to showcase some ornaments and faux holly and greenery.

This tiered tray vignette took 10 minutes to create and it looks so cute in my dining room.

What Christmas vignettes have you created?

DIY Snowglobe Ornaments

I enjoyed the snow globe jars that I made a weeks ago so much…

…that I decided to make some snowglobe ornaments.

First, I bought some empty glass ornaments from the Target dollar spot.

Then, I used some wood glue to atach some miniature bottle brush trees to the inside of them.

I let them dry for 24 hours and then added some Epsom salt to them.

Easy peasy, and lots of fun, too

A hot cocoa station

We are coffee drinkers at my house, but this time of year, we like to drink hot chocolate.

I decided to create a hot chocolate bar. I started with an IKEA tray.

My hot chocolate bar contains these cute little hot chocolate tins my hubby got from his secret Santa (and then I stole them).

There are peppermint sticks and marshmallows.

Then, there is a jar of cocoa and a salt shaker with cocoa in it.

And that’s how I made my cocoa bar.

Breath of Heaven

Today, we have seven days left until Christmas. Since I am trying to make sure I am focusing on our Savior this season, I wanted to share my favorite Christmas song with you.

“Breath of Heaven” is special to me because it’s written from the perspective of Mary, the mother of Jesus. It was also recorded by one of my favorite recording artists of all time, Amy Grant.

Breath of Heaven

Merry Christmas, my friends. Join me again tomorrow for a “sweet” DIY.

Christmas DIY: sweater trees

I found some of these Styrofoam cones on clearance at Michael’s and I wondered what I could make with them.

I quickly started perusing Pinterest and I found a host of awesome ideas, like this one:

While I liked this idea, I decided to go with something I already had in my stash.

I used hot glue to secure the edges to the cone, and then I just wrapped it around. When I finished, this is what I had:

I put them in my daughter’s room. These sweater trees are so cute, and the pink is so perfect in my girls’ room.

What Christmas DIY have you done lately?

Free Christmas printable: angels we have heard on high

I got so many sweet responses from you guys concerning my “Merry and Bright” printable and my chalkboard printable that I decided to make another. This is one of my favorite hymns and Christmas carol, as it sounds so pretty when sung by a choir. It’s also my favorite because it pertains to the angels telling the shepherds about the birth of our Savior. I hope you’ll love this “angels we have heard on high” printable.

Just like always, just click on the picture and save it to your device. It will print best at 8X10 or smaller.

Thanks so much!

Have a wonderful Friday tomorrow!!

Our favorite Christmas traditions: A Christmas bucket list

We have some favorite Christmas traditions that we enjoy each year. We try to do something new and interesting each year but we do have our tried and true traditions that we always enjoy.

1. We love making a cup of hot chocolate and riding around to look at Christmas lights. It’s so much fun that we often do it more than once.

2. Did I mention we like to make and enjoy hot chocolate? yum.

3. We enjoy going to The Country Christmas Train in Denton. This place is set up like an old fashioned town. You can enjoy the town, ride the train and see Santa.

4. Oh, those naughty elves. Our elf is fun for our kiddos and us as well. She gets into all sorts of mischief!!

5. We love watching Christmas movies!! We like to put on our pjs, pop some popcorn, turn on some movies , and get cozy.

6. On Christmas Eve each year, we read the classic edition of The Night Before Christmas. We love this beautiful book and the story as well.

What Christmas traditions do you and your family have?
