Saturday musings

I hope you all had a wonderful Mother’s Day. I had a great holiday with these two sweeties.

My oldest wrote me this sweet message on the sidewalk. It says, “love is good because my mom is there for me. Have a happy Mother’s Day. ”

She is the sweetest! Plus, she’s now a kindergarten grad.

I need a pause button. Time is flying far too fast.

Here is what I’m reading this weekend:

I’ve always been a fan of the blog Vintage Revivals by Mandi Gubler, and I was excited to see that Country Living featured “the nugget!”

Weekend Reading

Happy weekend to you!

Something big happened around here this week: this little sunshine finished her first year of school.

She is now a kindergarten graduate! Her last day of school was yesterday, and in August, she’ll be in first grade.

She has had a great school year.

This little stinker rocked her first ponytail and looked adorable.

It’s rainy here this weekend, so you can find us inside, enjoying some cuddles and watching some movies.

Here’s what I’m reading this weekend:

The Comparison Trap by Sandra Stanley

If you’re looking for a Bible study, I highly suggest that you check out this one. I’ve only just started and already I’ve been so blessed.

BHG: Mothers Day gifts

Simple ways to increase the curb appeal of your home

10 plants that will purify the air in your home

A yard built for parties

Have a wonderful week end.

Weekend Reading

I hope you’ve enjoyed your week. Mine had several highlights. For starters, we had a blast celebrating my birthday last week. Thank you all for the sweet messages, too!

I started doing genealogy recently and was able to trace several lines of my family back to the 1700s. I even found the names of some of my ancestors who emigrated from Europe. I even found a few surprises: I’ve always known my maternal grandmother was kin to the McCoys but I never knew my paternal grandmother was kin the the Hatfields. If you’re not familiar with the Hatfield-McCoy saga, I encourage you to check it out.

On another note, here are my great- great-great grandparents, Abel and Sarah Musick.

I’m finding genealogy to be fascinating but really time consuming. I’ll probably delve deeper into it this summer.

Do any of you do genealogy? I love history, so I’d love to chat about it sometime.

Here’s what I’m reading this weekend:

Stonegable: Brighten up your kitchen with white

25 things to do outside with your kids this summer

Cute Mother’s Day gifts to make

Make ahead Mother’s Day desserts

Here’s what we’ll be sharing this week:

Tips and tricks for hanging wall art

Our weekly routines for house management

Wordfull Wednesday quote

A really fun flower pot made from recycled kitchen trash

Farmhouse style lights

Have a great weekend!!

Saturday Musings: Another trip around the sun

Happy weekend to you! Today marks 32 years I’ve been on this earth. I’d like to think I’ve got a lot to show for those years, but truthfully, I’ve got a lot more things I still want to accomplish. That’s enough seriousness for one day.

They’re my greatest accomplishment.

This past week was a busy one with lots of fun projects, but we’ve got more fun in store for you next week. Here’s what I’ll be sharing:

  1. Monday: How to turn a cheap piece of artwork into a cute farmhouse chalkboard
  2. Tuesday: A reorganized china cabinet
  3. Wednesday: Wordfull Wednesday with some “quoty goodness”
  4. Thursday: Creating interesting container gardens
  5. Friday: a farmhouse entry way revealed

And here’s what I’m reading this weekend:

Saturday Musings

Last Sunday was Easter.

Believe it or not, that is one of the better pictures we took as a family. This was seconds before Aubrey decided to smack her sister on top of the head.

And of course any weekend spent with this girl is a good one.

We went to visit my grandma and encountered this lovely view.

This week we went back to school after Spring Break, which was hard. It was a good week, if a really busy one.

This weekend, we are visiting family and enjoying a mini vacation. Here is what I’m reading today:

Weekend Reading

This week has been crazy busy. I was on spring break, but managed to clean out closets, paint the living room, clean out the out building, and wash the porch furniture. I also got to volunteer at my daughter’s school for her Easter egg hunt.

Isn’t she cute? She’s growing up way too fast.

This little stinker fought a nasty virus this week but is feeling much better.

Here she is modeling her sister’s rain boots.

We are off to an Easter egg hunt at church today, and then back home to get ready for Easter Sunday. I hope the Lord blesses you and your family.

Here is what I’m reading this weekend:

Country Living: Old fashioned plants you need in your garden right now

Country Living: Small Mountain Towns to Visit this Summer (#1 is Jackson County, NC, which is home to my alma mater)

Southern Living: 21 DIY Easter egg ideas

BHG: No-dye Easter egg ideas

Weekend Reading

Happy Saturday to you! If you happen to notice a hobby farm/homesteader theme here today, you’re absolutely correct. We moved out of our house in town and bought a house with a little land almost four years ago. We have full time jobs and two kids, so we’re a little slow getting our homestead/hobby farm started but we’re finally finding our footing. I thought I’d share some of my hobby farming research with you today.

Country Living: How to Build the Ultimate Chicken Coop

We are in the process of preparing a chicken coop so we can get a few laying hens.

Better Homes and Gardens: Missouri Roots Farm

Modern Farmer: Raising Backyard Chickens for Dummies

Week In Pictures

I hope you’re having wonderful week.

We spent our Saturday at my nephew’s birthday party.   He turned two, and we had a blast.

Then,  when we got home, this super expressive cutie kept us entertained.

Then, on  Sunday, our church surpassed our goal for Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes.

At Home, we accomplished so much! More on that later though.

And then we enjoyed some gorgeous skies.

Have great week.  I can’t wait to show you some of the Projects I’ve got coming your way.

What a busy weekend we had here!! First, we went shopping and gathered some ideas for our front landscaping.

We also window shopped for some awesome Christmas decoration ideas.

And then on Sunday, we toted this spey cute lamb And Minnie Mouse to our annual church fall festival.

Emorie’s cousin came, too.

We had so much fun!! Then, our super cute little trick or treaters passed out in their car seats.
