Saturday Musings

Last Sunday was Easter.

Believe it or not, that is one of the better pictures we took as a family. This was seconds before Aubrey decided to smack her sister on top of the head.

And of course any weekend spent with this girl is a good one.

We went to visit my grandma and encountered this lovely view.

This week we went back to school after Spring Break, which was hard. It was a good week, if a really busy one.

This weekend, we are visiting family and enjoying a mini vacation. Here is what I’m reading today:

Weekend Reading

This week has been crazy busy. I was on spring break, but managed to clean out closets, paint the living room, clean out the out building, and wash the porch furniture. I also got to volunteer at my daughter’s school for her Easter egg hunt.

Isn’t she cute? She’s growing up way too fast.

This little stinker fought a nasty virus this week but is feeling much better.

Here she is modeling her sister’s rain boots.

We are off to an Easter egg hunt at church today, and then back home to get ready for Easter Sunday. I hope the Lord blesses you and your family.

Here is what I’m reading this weekend:

Country Living: Old fashioned plants you need in your garden right now

Country Living: Small Mountain Towns to Visit this Summer (#1 is Jackson County, NC, which is home to my alma mater)

Southern Living: 21 DIY Easter egg ideas

BHG: No-dye Easter egg ideas
Have a wonderful holiday weekend.

Weekend Reading

Happy Saturday to you! If you happen to notice a hobby farm/homesteader theme here today, you’re absolutely correct. We moved out of our house in town and bought a house with a little land almost four years ago. We have full time jobs and two kids, so we’re a little slow getting our homestead/hobby farm started but we’re finally finding our footing. I thought I’d share some of my hobby farming research with you today.

Country Living: How to Build the Ultimate Chicken Coop

We are in the process of preparing a chicken coop so we can get a few laying hens.

Better Homes and Gardens: Missouri Roots Farm

Modern Farmer: Raising Backyard Chickens for Dummies

Gardening Know How: How to use a mini greenhouse

Have a wonderful weekend!!!

Week In Pictures

I hope you’re having wonderful week.

We spent our Saturday at my nephew’s birthday party.   He turned two, and we had a blast.

Then,  when we got home, this super expressive cutie kept us entertained.

Then, on  Sunday, our church surpassed our goal for Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes.

At Home, we accomplished so much! More on that later though.

And then we enjoyed some gorgeous skies.

Have great week.  I can’t wait to show you some of the Projects I’ve got coming your way.

Weekend reading

Good morning and good Saturday to you! I am sitting here with my family enjoying some fresh air and a beautiful view.

This week, we painted and revamped our sad front stoop, cleaned our back doors, shopped for school supplies and created a Joanna Gaines-esque sign.

I hope you’re having an amazing weekend- here is what I am reading this weekend:

Better Homes and Gardens: 10 Minute Decorating. This is not an article, but a video. You should definitely watch it; I learned a lot from it.

Also from Better Homes and Gardens: Outdoor Storage Hacks We are currently in the process of revamping our front and back yards, as well as porches. They have some great ideas.

Crosswalk: Girlfriends in God: When Comparison Kills Confidence  I got a lot out of this devotional that I read on Wednesday. Comparison is something I actively struggle with, and this devotional really gave me some new perspectives. I thought I’d post it in hopes someone else might be blessed by it, too.

Magnolia Market: Chip as a Dad: A sweet heartfelt post from a few weeks ago about Chip Gaines. I enjoyed reading it and I bet you will as well.

I’m off to spend time with my precious family now. Enjoy your weekend.

Week in Review Wednesday

Hi all! I hope you’re having a wonderful week. We have had a great weekend.

We started our weekend with Emorie’s Vacation Bible School commencement. This was her third year and she loved it!

On Saturday, we played “beat the rain” and scrambled to complete our yard projects before the downpours started.

We almost didn’t make it. I can’t wait to show you what we did.

Aubrey really decided to throw me a curve ball and pull up onto her feet for the first time.

The Asiatic lilies in our backyard are blooming and they smell amazing!

This giant blue heron decided to pay us a visit.

And these beautiful little sisters made me smile with their cuddles.

I hope your week is going well! See you tomorrow!

Week in review Wednesday

We had a very busy weekend this past weekend. First and most importantly, my sweet Emorie graduated from preschool.

image

This is significant because, thirteen years ago, I graduated high school and my first cousin graduated preschool. Now, thirteen years later, my cousin graduates high school this year and my daughter graduated preschool. We took this photo to commemorate the occasions.

We also went shopping for school clothes and swimsuits. Check out this cutie modeling her purchases.

Miss Aubrey was quite the cutie this weekend as well. Here are my favorite shots of her.

I hope you’re having a wonderful week. Happy Wednesday.

This weekend, we have had so much fun. First, my girls and I had a breakfast date while my husband was at work.

Then, we went to the Greensboro Children’s Museum for a little fun and family time. Emorie was a firefighter:
