Weekend Reading

Happy weekend to you!

Something big happened around here this week: this little sunshine finished her first year of school.

She is now a kindergarten graduate! Her last day of school was yesterday, and in August, she’ll be in first grade.

She has had a great school year.

This little stinker rocked her first ponytail and looked adorable.

It’s rainy here this weekend, so you can find us inside, enjoying some cuddles and watching some movies.

Here’s what I’m reading this weekend:

The Comparison Trap by Sandra Stanley

If you’re looking for a Bible study, I highly suggest that you check out this one. I’ve only just started and already I’ve been so blessed.

BHG: Mothers Day gifts

Simple ways to increase the curb appeal of your home

Saturday Musings: Another trip around the sun

Happy weekend to you! Today marks 32 years I’ve been on this earth. I’d like to think I’ve got a lot to show for those years, but truthfully, I’ve got a lot more things I still want to accomplish. That’s enough seriousness for one day.

They’re my greatest accomplishment.

This past week was a busy one with lots of fun projects, but we’ve got more fun in store for you next week. Here’s what I’ll be sharing:

  1. Monday: How to turn a cheap piece of artwork into a cute farmhouse chalkboard
  2. Tuesday: A reorganized china cabinet
  3. Wednesday: Wordfull Wednesday with some “quoty goodness”
  4. Thursday: Creating interesting container gardens
  5. Friday: a farmhouse entry way revealed

And here’s what I’m reading this weekend:

Modern Parents Messy Kids: secrets to gorgeous plant pots

Setting for Four: How to grow a cut flower garden

BHG: Best plants for rock flower beds

BHG: Your Guide to Common Weeds

Have a wonderful weekend.

Weekend Reading

This week has been crazy busy. I was on spring break, but managed to clean out closets, paint the living room, clean out the out building, and wash the porch furniture. I also got to volunteer at my daughter’s school for her Easter egg hunt.

Isn’t she cute? She’s growing up way too fast.

This little stinker fought a nasty virus this week but is feeling much better.

Here she is modeling her sister’s rain boots.

We are off to an Easter egg hunt at church today, and then back home to get ready for Easter Sunday. I hope the Lord blesses you and your family.

Here is what I’m reading this weekend:

Country Living: Old fashioned plants you need in your garden right now

Country Living: Small Mountain Towns to Visit this Summer (#1 is Jackson County, NC, which is home to my alma mater)

Southern Living: 21 DIY Easter egg ideas

BHG: No-dye Easter egg ideas
Have a wonderful holiday weekend.

Week in Review Wednesday

Happy Wednesday to you. Last week felt like fall but now we’re seeing temperatures in the eighties again.  North Carolina has some odd weather, to be sure. It may not feel very fall-ish, but it is at least looking like fall.  Our trees they are a changing.

We are actually in the process of tearing out our flower beds in the front and reworking them. We aren’t sure what we want to plant in the beds, but we are actively looking for ideas.

Miss E had the busiest weekend of all of us.  She went to the State Fair on Friday, to a cookout and party on Saturday, had a play date Saturday, and then had church and Christmas play practice on Sunday. Also on Sunday, we celebrated my father in law’s birthday.

And then this little stinker took a few steps this weekend.

I hope you have a great week!!

Weekend Reading

This week was a quick and very busy week for us. We are glad that it is over, and we can slow down and take a break. That being said, let’s make sure we take the time to pray for those affected by Hurricane Matthew. Many of us are safe in our warm, dry home, but others are not so fortunate. Let us always be grateful for what we have and in prayer for all others.

This weekend, I am catching up. I’m catching up on some long neglected house work. I’m catching up on some organization projects that have not yet been completed, but that also will simplify my life when they’re done. I’m catching up on some work for my job. Amidst all of those things, I’m also pausing to enjoy my family and enjoy these fine pieces of reading material.

Week in Review

My sweet family is having an awesome week and I hope yours does,  too.

This tiny girl is getting bigger and more grown up every day.  Her little personality is coming out more and more.

Even when she’s grumpy she’s still so much fun.

And our sweet Emorie.  She is loving school and is learning so much.

And she’s growing soooooo fast!!

We are all doing well and enjoying life.

Even though the weather is rainy this week, I hope you can find some sunshine.  Thanks for reading.

Week in review Wednesday

What a busy but wonderful week.

We started our weekend by purchasing a big girl booster seat for our kindergartener.

I decided it was time for a change, so I had my nappy waist length hair cut to my shoulders. It looks and feels so. much. better. Thanks, Crystal!

This little cutie has really been tossing out the smiles lately!

On Sunday we went to church and this girl looked so grown:

On Monday, I moved out of the classroom I’ve occupied for the last five years.I am excited about my new journey but will truly miss my friends and the community in which I taught.
I moved my things into my new classroom, which I will begin setting up this week.

I have a busy rest of the week ahead but can’t wait to share all those happenings with you next week! Make it a great one!!

Week in review Wednesday

May I be the first to wish you a happy Wednesday! (name that children’s cartoon).

This has been a busy week. Emorie had open house on Thursday, a playdate on Friday, and Saturday, we went to visit my grandmother. I took this super cute pic of the girls looking out my grandma’s French doors.

My kids have grown so much! Our local coffee shop has a wall where the local kiddies can put their height. Look how much Emorie has grown in two months!

Today, my sweetie pie started kindergarten.

I bet you heard me sobbing the way from California. As much as I hate the fact that she’s growing up, I couldn’t be happier with her teachers. I think she’ll have a wonderful school year.
Aubrey has gone back to her babysitter full time. She turned nine months old this week and is growing so fast. It’s hard to believe she is going to be one soon. Anyone want to fist bump?

Have a blessed week. We will see you next week with some exciting news.

Week in review Wednesday

Hi everyone! Boy have we been busy around here. Summer is coming to a close and we are preparing to go back to school. This week, we bought school supplies.

Our week started off poorly with both girls not feeling well.

But both girls began to feel better fairly quickly.

Then we went to West Virginia for the weekend to see my grandparents.

The weather is so much nicer up there than around here. We actually got to spend some time outside.

Then we went to visit my aunt and uncle and took a really nice walk with some beautiful views.

We had so much fun! Hope you are having a great week!

Check back tomorrow for some back porch updates.

Week in Review Wednesday

Hi all! I hope you’re having a wonderful week. We have had a great weekend.

We started our weekend with Emorie’s Vacation Bible School commencement. This was her third year and she loved it!

On Saturday, we played “beat the rain” and scrambled to complete our yard projects before the downpours started.

We almost didn’t make it. I can’t wait to show you what we did.

Aubrey really decided to throw me a curve ball and pull up onto her feet for the first time.

The Asiatic lilies in our backyard are blooming and they smell amazing!

This giant blue heron decided to pay us a visit.

And these beautiful little sisters made me smile with their cuddles.

I hope your week is going well! See you tomorrow!
