Christmas Home Tour 2015

As you well know, the name of this blog is “Organized and Simplified.” Christmas at our house is organized, but simplified? Ha.

We just had a baby last month. Anyone who is smart would simplify their Christmas and downsize from their usual Christmas decorating. I’m not that smart. I absolutely love decking the halls, and decided to go big or go home. Besides, next year we’ll have a mobile child who’ll be undecorating the trees, so I decided to save the downsizing for next year. I hope you enjoy the tour. I’m posting our outdoor decor next week.

First of all, when you walk in our door, here is our fake mistletoe. It’s fake because we have kids and pets.

Beyond that, you see our main tree in the living room.

Also in the living room is our nativity scene. The barn is special because my grandfather built it for us. The nativity figurines are one of the first Christmas decorations I bought when I purchased my first house.

The DIY apothecary vases are filled with glass Christmas balls. I love the look of the glass and ornaments together. Plus, the Christmas bells were a cheap purchase last year, but were exposed to heat and moisture. Now they have this fantastic patina and they look old!

I love this candle holder.

In our office, we have a small tree with all of our personal ornaments. I love this tree. Yes, nothing on it matches, but I love the memories it contains. All of the ornaments here were given to us as gifts or given to us to commemorate milestones in our lives (vacations, new home, new baby, our jobs, etc). It’s so much fun to reminisce when we are decorating this tree.

In our dining room, we have what is known as the music tree. This tree is special because it is a tree my mother used during my childhood. The ornaments were also my mother’s from when I was growing up. She didn’t want to use them anymore and I couldn’t let her get rid of them 🙂 This is also the tree that held up my home tour- every single strand of lights burned out about 12 hours after I put them on…and about 14 hours before my home tour. Boo.

We don’t have a mantle in our house right now, so this ledge is the closest thing we have. I thought it would be a nice place to store our stockings.

Our china cabinet is adorned with boxwood and a patchwork picture frame.

In the kitchen, we have a cute snowman family.

In the window between the kitchen and dining room, we have a tiny tree and antique candelabra.

In our hall bath, we have more snowmen and a glass vase with mini ornaments.

In our daughter’s room, she has her very own white tree! Each year, she gets her own ornaments from various family members and we love putting them on her tree each year.

I made these sweet trees last year.

Obligatory pictures of two trees in one picture.
