Cheeseburgers are an American tradition, especially in the summer. We have several holidays during the summer months, and cookouts seem to go hand in hand with summer.
A friend and former coworker recently contacted me with some fabulous ideas. Kelly is a married mother of three beautiful children. She managed to give me several ideas that include three of my favorite things: saving money, organization, and time management. Let’s not forget food as well!!
First, a quick disclaimer: all photos were taken and contributed by Kelly.
Like most of us, Kelly and her family save money buy buying meat in bulk and freezing what isn’t needed at the moment. But did you know you can use a rolling pin to make the meat store more flatly in your freezer an take up less space? That’s genius!!
As I mentioned, Kelly has children, so she saves time by prepping meals in advance. You can pre-prepare burger patties by cutting your flattened hamburger meat into squares. Just use scissors to cut your bag open so the meat stays flat.
You can either cook them up then, or add some seasonings and freeze the patties.
She also mentioned this great idea: are you running low on cheese, or maybe you’re fixing a small burger and you don’t need a full slice? Check this out:
I am so glad Kelly shared these ideas with us and I learned along with you- I’d never thought of rolling meat flat to store it better, nor cutting it into square patties. I love it when readers contribute ideas because I learn from you. Have a great weekend, and happy cooking!
