Our new, grown up master bedroom

Our old master bedroom furniture was mine from when I was in college.

It was good furniture and it has held up well. It has survived many moves. There was nothing wrong with it, but it was time for an upgrade.

Our week ended with an empty bedroom (we pretended we were camping).

Our living room was definitely not empty.

That’s all our old furniture, which found a new home with my mother.

We bought this lovely captain’s bed set, since our closets are small and we needed the extra storage.

We love our new, more mature furniture. We did run into one snafu, though. A captain’s bed sits up high, so a lower profile mattress is the way to go. The first mattress we bought was way too thick and we needed a ladder to get in our bed. We exchanged it for a smaller one and are now much happier.

We are almost done with this room now. We just need to get a chair, paint, and get a new light fixture.
