Sunday Musings: searching for strength

Last week, we began a series on verses for encouragement. Last Sunday, we discussed verses about being joyful. Today, I want to talk about verses about strength.

A lot of people in my life are going through various trials and hard times. While God promises to never forsake us, we can’t get through everything on our own.

So how can we get through those hard times? We have to trust God to give us the strength to make it through. The Bible has a lot to say about strength:

Exodus 15:2 The Lord is my strength and my song; he has given me victory. This is my God, and I will praise him—  my father’s God, and I will exalt him!

Psalm 46:1-3 God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.

1 Chronicles 16:11  Seek the LORD and his strength;  seek his presence continually!

Of course, this is nowhere near the actual number of verses in the Bible. Did you know the word “strength” is mentioned over 360 times in the Bible?

In Ephesians 6:10, Paul says “be strong in the Lord and his mighty power.” What that means is as Christians, we should look to Christ as a source of unlimited power and strength.

When things are too great for us to handle, we should cast our cares on Him, because he cares for us.

Have a blessed week.
