Make something Monday: 5 Easy Burlap Crafts

Let’s chat for just a minute about burlap and all the cool things you can do with it. Burlap is a nubby fabric with a lot of weight and texture. It fits right in with my farmhouse style home, which is a good thing, because there is burlap ALL over my house.

I thought I’d share five of my favorite burlap crafts with you today. Of course, these are in no particular order. They were also pretty cheap and easy to make.

  1. Cover old books with burlap

Covering old books with burlap is a great way to add some texture to your bookshelves or mantles. You can then use the fabric covered books as risers to add height to your decor. These old books were purchased from the thrift store and used as risers for this “plant.” You can read more about this project here.

2. Framed Burlap Art

Did you know you can print on fabric? You can, and you can even do this with a desktop printer. I downloaded a graphic from Wedding Chicks and printed it onto my burlap. Read about it here.

3. Clip frames with burlap backgrounds

I also created some clip frames with burlap backgrounds to go with this. You can read more about how I created this project here.

4. Burlap table runner (No sew)

I simply cut this burlap into a strip to create this table runner. No gluing or sewing was involved. In just a few minutes, I was able to get a cute table runner that goes with my farmhouse look.

5. Farmhouse inspired burlap and lace candles

Most recently, I’ve created these farmhouse candles. They were simple, cheap and easy to make, and I made them with materials I already own. You can read about how I did it here.

I’m sure I’ll soon have more burlap projects to show you. Have a wonderful Monday!

DIY Decorating

I love burlap and I love old books. I’ve got both of these items in almost every room at my house. I’ve seen many bloggers cover books in fabric, so I decided to cover mine with burlap.

Won’t these be super cute in a vignette? I can’t wait to find new and interesting ways to use my burlap covered books.

Shopping finds

This weekend, my oldest daughter and I went on a bit of a shopping spree. I had heard that Dollar Tree and Dollar General had some neat baskets and art work, but when I went to see for myself, I didn’t find them. I did find these cute “mercury glass” votive candle holders.

I used one in my living room on an end table.

The other went to our guest bath. I paired it with another find from this weekend, a boxwood ball from Hobby Lobby.

We had lots of success at Hobby Lobby. I found this beautiful sign that I plan to hang on the porch.

And this beautiful sign with one of my favorite verses on it. It was only $5!

I also found this burlap table runner, too.

I also found these cool chalkboards that look like antique pie pans.

There are a few more things I purchased, but I’ll show those off soon. Have a great Monday!!
