I’m trying something new with my Wednesday posts.
I have seen so many posts this year about “words of the year.” I have never done a word of the year, but as best I can tell, you choose a word that has some special meaning to you. It must be something that you want to live up to, remember daily or just something you want to live by.
I had never really heard of this until last month, but I couldn’t stop thinking about it. I kept wondering why I’d never heard of it before, and I also kept wondering what word I’d choose.
I’m a little late to this dance, but here’s mine:
I received The Magnolia Story by Chip and JoAnna Gaines for Christmas and something she said really resonated with me. She talked about how she used to spend so much time and energy trying to be perfect that she didn’t enjoy life and her children to the fullest. I could see myself in what she said and I knew instantly that I needed to make that same change.
I’m refocusing my time. I’m not going to spend so much time worrying about having a perfect house or being a perfect teacher. I’m going to invest that time into my family and my Creator.
