I certainly wish I’d had known this quote at a younger age. In years past, I was way too consumed with what people thought of me and whether or not they liked me. In fact, a lot of the time, I was too worried about what people thought of me to be myself. I often was afraid to be my real self because I wasn’t sure how it’d be received.
If I knew someone didn’t like me, I saw it as a problem with myself, and something I needed to change. What I didn’t know was this:
I’m not everyone’s cup of tea AND that’s ok.
Not everyone you encounter in life is going to like you…just like you won’t always like everyone you meet. So why is that so hard for us to understand?
I have learned to fully embrace my weirdness and not care what others think. I was past the age of 30 before I made the decision to just be myself, and I’m glad I did. I’m much happier and much more genuine.
You are perfect the way God made you. Don’t worry what others think- just be you and be happy.
