Wordfull Wednesday: Focus on where you want to go, not what you fear

How many years have I spent living in fear, rather than living my dreams?

I am not without my big dreams: the dreams that probably can and will come to fruition at some point in time, and larger, less realistic dreams that I can only hope to accomplish.

There are a lot of things in my life that I have already worked toward and been able to successfully cross off my list. I’m married to a wonderful man that I love and can’t imagine life without. I’m the mother of two brilliant little girls whom amaze me every day. I have a career I love and about which I am passionate. I get to share the details of my life, however mundane they may be at times, with the world through this blog.

…BUT sometimes I am so concerned with my fears and the things of which I am uncertain that I am afraid to just GO FOR IT. In fact, a lot of the time I am so consumed by my fear of failure that I just want to give up. It’s too risky. Too uncertain. It’s outside of my comfort zone, so why should I try?

Life was never meant to be boring. Life was never meant to be a dead end (har, har. See what I did there?). Instead, life was meant to be lived. Life was meant to be an adventure. Life was meant to be fulfilling.

I don’t think I know anyone who can say, “Yep. I’ve accomplished all I’d hoped to accomplish with my life. Time to stop working toward anything bigger and better.” I shared earlier this year that I’d like to focus on the word “time” as my word of the year, and that I’d like to spend my time on things that matter. Like my family. and my faith.

But what if I spend some of that time setting aside all my fears and just GO FOR IT? Stop being so scared and just, well, live my dreams?

What do you think?
